Our Music

Westminster’s Music Ministry seeks to empower the Westminster community
to experience God’s presence through the music of prayer and praise.

Singing choirs, bell choirs, and instrumentalists of all ages lead the congregation in song and present special services of music. Our choirs are comprised of a rich mix of abilities and levels of experience. If you love making music, enjoy learning in a supportive environment, and are willing to have fun while working hard, there is a place for you in a choir.

Adult Choir, Handbells and Instrumentalists: There are many musical opportunities in the Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir, and for instrumentalists.

Hear selections from the CD "Rejoice and Sing! the Music of Westminster" recorded by the Chancel Choir:

"Gloria"   "Comfort, Comfort, You My People"  "Of the Father's Love Begotten"

Adult Chancel Choir meets on Thursdays from 7:30- 9:30 p.m., beginning on September 6 and welcomes new members from grade 9 through adults. The choir sings weekly in worship services, and at special music services. Group vocal training is part of nearly every rehearsal.

Adult Handbell Choir meets on Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. and welcomes new members. An ability to read music is helpful, as is some previous bell experience. The choir plays for worship services and special music services.

Instrumentalists of all ages play frequently throughout the year and are a vital part of worship services. Solos, duos, and ensembles are welcome.

Children’s Choirs: There are singing and bell choirs for children in Kindergarten through 12th Grade.

Children’s Choir (Grades 2-5) meets on Tuesdays from 5:15 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. and emphasizes singing and worship skills training in a supportive environment where children acquaint themselves with a variety of rhythm instruments and tone chimes. The children sing in worship several times throughout the year and participate in special music services. Choir members and their families enjoy supper together on the first Tuesday of each month from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 pm. All children in grades 2-5 and their friends are welcome.

Westminster Bells (Grades 6-12) meets on Tuesdays from 4:30 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.  All are welcome. No previous ringing experience is required in this introduction to handbells. Westminster Bells plays in worship services throughout the year.
