Youth Fellowship
![]() Our youth are our future. Inspired by this philosophy, Westminster is committed to providing meaningful Christian life experience for the young adults in our community. In addition to church school classes, we have a vital and growing Youth Fellowship programs for middle and high school students. Youth activities include fellowship and mission opportunities, trips and retreats.
Westminster senior high school students also participate in a group Work Camp during the summer, where adult advisors and youth work together to build, repair and restore homes for people in need. Work Camp has taken Westminster youth to many different areas of the country to work with other Christians on behalf of others.
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
The Rev. gretchen N. Sausville, Associate Pastor
This is the biblical reference to one of my favorite songs, Turn, Turn, Turn by The Byrds. I am reminded of it every Autumn when the seasons quickly slip from Summer to Fall, with such grace; the subtle change of light in the afternoon sky, the vibrant earthen tones of the foliage out my window. Leaves don’t simply fall from the trees, they stay and change and recreate themselves. With each leaf comes a new vision, a new understanding, a new way to look at something that has always been. I love Fall for the new opportunities it brings.
This September brought about CHAOS, the Sunday evening youth program for middle and high school students. The fellowship and food have been great, and The Gutter has played a starring role at meal time. If you are interested in joining the fun on Sunday nights, by providing dinner or finding out what The Gutter is all about, please contact the church by email or by calling 860-521-6240.
AIM-High is another program for the senior high church school class. It stands for Attendance Initiative Ministry – High! This year the senior high are looking at Theology in Film, and if they miss no more than 4 classes, they are invited on a summer weekend trip sponsored by the church.
The new year finds me in the midst of planning for the Youth Summer Mission Trip (July 26- August 1, 2009) and over-hauling the youth rooms. It is my hope that the turning of time brings to fruition the opportunities before us.
